Festivals in Tulum: Music and Culture

• Zamna Festival: Tulum’s flagship electronic music festival, staged in the jungle around a cenote and spread across multiple nights from New Year’s Eve into January. International headliners, spectacular production, and crowds from around the world make it the anchor event of Tulum’s high season, and the reason accommodation vanishes around those dates.
• Day Zero: the techno faithful’s pilgrimage, a single afternoon-to-sunrise event in a jungle setting each January, from the mind of Damian Lazarus. Mystical staging, marathon sets, and a devoted crowd; it calls itself a festival and earns the title in atmosphere if not in length.
• Tehmplo: an open-air venue in the Hotel Zone that hosts big-name nights in the same season, like Solomun. Tickets and tables for all three are on our music festivals page.

Beyond the named festivals, Tulum’s high season, roughly New Year through April, functions as one long music program, with touring DJs rotating through the beach clubs, jungle venues, and cenote stages weekly.

• Festival de la Tortuga Marina: Fundación Tulum’s sea turtle festival, held in Tulum at the end of October, raises awareness for sea turtle conservation with educational activities and beach cleanups, family-friendly and genuinely local.
• Fiesta Tradicional Maya: held twice a year, in March and October, at Tulum’s Centro Ceremonial, honoring Maya traditions with rituals, dances, music, parades, local food, and the ancient pitz ball game, a living link to the culture that built the ruins.
• Festival Internacional de Cine Tulum: Tulum’s own film festival, focused on independent and Latin American cinema, documentaries, and experimental film in a relaxed Tulum-scale setting.
