ADO Bus Stations in Tulum

ADO is Mexico’s largest and most reliable bus company, offering comfortable, affordable, and air-conditioned transportation between major cities and popular tourist destinations—including Tulum. Whether you’re arriving from Cancun Airport, heading to Playa del Carmen, or planning a longer trip across the Yucatán Peninsula, ADO buses are a convenient and safe way to travel.

There are two main ADO bus stations in Tulum: one located in the heart of Tulum Pueblo (downtown), and another near the Tulum Ruins. Each serves different routes and offers easy access to various parts of the area, depending on your travel plans.

1. ADO Bus Terminal - Tulum Pueblo

The ADO Bus Terminal Tulum is the main bus station in Tulum. It is located at the main Avenida Tulum, right next to Circle K and across the second colectivo stop. The bus terminal is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

From the ADO Bus Terminal Tulum, you can take buses to all major destinations in Mexico, including Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Merida, and Mexico City. You can also take buses to popular tourist destinations in the Yucatan Peninsula, such as Chichen Itza, Cobá, and Uxmal. It also offers direct buses to the Tulum Ruins for about 4 USD (70 pesos).

2. ADO Bus Terminal - Tulum Ruins

The ADO Bus Terminal – Tulum Ruins is located at Carretera heading to Cancún, Mexico. This bus station is located approximately 2 kilometers from the Tulum archaeological site.

The ADO Bus Terminal – Tulum Ruins is a smaller bus station than the ADO Bus Terminal Tulum. Here are some destinations you can consider for this terminal:

  • Playa del Carmen for about 6 USD (120 pesos) one way
  • Cancun for about 13 USD (250 pesos) one way

Which Terminal Is Best For Me?

Generally speaking, centro is more convenient, because it’s close to stores and it has a lot of bars and restaurants with wifi in case you need it. It’s also the final stop, so you won’t have to worry about when to get out if you decide to go there.

Tips For Using The ADO Bus In Tulum

  • Purchase your tickets in advance, especially if you are traveling during peak season.
  • Arrive at the bus terminal at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.
  • The ADO buses are comfortable and air-conditioned, but it is a good idea to bring a sweater or jacket, as the bus can get cold.
