Coba is one of the most fascinating archaeological sites near Tulum and makes for an excellent day trip. Just 45 minutes away, Coba offers a chance to explore ancient Mayan ruins set in a lush jungle environment, with unique experiences that set it apart from other historical sites in the region.
Coba was once a significant Mayan city and features one of the tallest pyramids in the Yucatán Peninsula, Nohoch Mul. Climbing this pyramid (currently subject to local regulations) offers panoramic views of the surrounding jungle. The site is vast, with much of it still covered by forest, creating a sense of discovery as you wander through the ruins.
Unlike other more compact sites, Coba is spread out, and exploring it often involves biking or walking along shaded paths. This adds an adventurous feel to your visit.
The Coba Ruins are open overyday between 8AM and 5PM, with the latest entry at 4PM.
The entrance price is 100 MXN (5 USD).
