Day Zero is a single annual event, run every January in the jungle outside Tulum since 2012. It was founded by DJ and producer Damian Lazarus to mark the end of the Mayan calendar, and the format has stayed consistent: sunset to sunrise, roughly 18 hours, two stages, deep house and techno curated by Lazarus and a rotating lineup of international artists. The venue is built around a cenote in a remote jungle clearing — no roads in, shuttle-only access from the Tulum ruins parking area.

    Date

Day Zero is a once-a-year January event, typically happening between January 8th and 14th. Exact dates vary each year and are announced in advance.

    Ticket Pricing & Types

Day Zero Festival offers several ticket categories depending on when you enter and the level of access you want:

    • Sunset Ticket / Early Entry – For entry before sunset (typically before ~7:00 PM). These tickets tend to be cheaper than standard entry. Pricing for this category on previous editions started around $250–260 USD.
    • General Admission – Standard festival entry with access from later in the evening. Prices typically range around $270–280 USD.
    • XXTRA (VIP Upgrade) – Includes access to a private area with its own bar and bathrooms, as well as express entry; priced higher, often around $350–370 USD.

    VIP Tables

    • Private table reservations include event entrance.
    • The amount paid is credited toward food and beverage consumption.
    • An additional 20% is added to the minimum spend for gratuity and payment costs.
    • Full amount is due upon booking.
    • When VIP tables are purchased through us, a discount on transportation is included.

    Event Times

Day Zero is known for its long, immersive experience deep in the jungle. Doors open at 7:00 PM, but most attendees arrive later, typically between 10:30 PM and 1:00 AM. The party runs through the night and into the next day, usually ending around 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

    Cashless Bracelet System

Day Zero operates with a cashless bracelet system. Upon entry, you receive a bracelet that you load with credit to purchase food and drinks inside the event. All payments during the night are made using this bracelet.

Any unused balance is not refundable, so it’s important to load only the amount you expect to spend.

    Transportation & Arrival Policy

Day Zero operates with an arrival-by-shuttle-only policy. Private vehicles and taxis are not permitted to access the venue directly. Official event shuttles depart from a meeting point located near the Tulum Ruins area, serving as the main access to the festival site.

Good to Know Before You Go

    Cell reception
Cell service is very limited or nonexistent inside the Day Zero venue. Reception depends on your mobile carrier, and many attendees report almost no signal once deep into the site. There is no official public Wi-Fi at the event.

    Parking & Shuttle Access
You cannot drive directly to the festival site. All attendees must check in and board official shuttles from the designated pickup area near the Tulum Ruins parking lot (Tulum Mágico), which transport guests to the jungle venue.

Parking near the shuttle pickup point is very limited and works on a first-come, first-served basis. Some attendees choose to park nearby, but this is separate from official parking and often informal.

What You Can & Can’t Bring
Day Zero has strict rules on what can be brought into the festival. Security checks bags at the entrance.

    Not allowed:
    • Outside food and beverages
    • Large backpacks or oversized bags
    • Professional cameras or filming equipment
    • Cigarettes (even unopened packs)
    • Gum (even unopened packs)
    • Fireworks, flares, or fire poi
    • Aerosols (including bug spray), sharp objects, or glass bottles
    • Inflatable items or hula hoops
    • Posters, flyers, selfie sticks, and vapes

Security is thorough, and prohibited items will be confiscated at entry.
