Coba

One of the largest ancient Mayan cities ever excavated, and the only Mayan pyramid you can still climb. You’ll bike along shaded jungle paths between temple clusters, ball courts, and stelae. The Nohoch Mul pyramid stands at 42 meters – the tallest on the Yucatan Peninsula. Your guide walks you through the history and significance of each structure along the way.

Lunch

A homemade meal in the house of a local Mayan family. Traditional Yucatecan dishes prepared fresh – an experience you won’t find at any restaurant.

Punta Laguna

A protected jungle reserve home to spider monkeys and howler monkeys – one of the best places in the Yucatan to see them in the wild. Walk the forest trails with a local guide, then paddle a canoe across the lagoon and zipline over the water. The reserve is run by a local Mayan community.

Cenote

Cool off in a family-owned cenote – crystal-clear freshwater, beautifully maintained, and a perfect way to end a day in the jungle.

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend booking your tours at least one week in advance. However, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings.

Chichen Itza is bigger, more famous, and more restored – it’s the bucket-list site. Coba is wilder, less crowded, and more adventurous – much of it is still buried in jungle, and you bike between structures instead of walking a manicured path. Chichen Itza is about the spectacle; Coba is about the experience. Many guests do both on separate days.
You should be comfortable cycling on flat jungle paths (~5 km total) and walking on uneven terrain. The zipline and canoe require no special fitness. If you can’t or don’t want to bike, bicycle taxis are available at Coba for an additional cost

A homemade Mayan meal prepared by a local family in their home. Expect traditional dishes like handmade tortillas, pollo pibil, beans, rice, and fresh salsa. Let us know about dietary restrictions when you book.

Comfortable closed-toe shoes (no sandals — you’ll be cycling and walking on jungle paths), athletic clothing, swimwear and a towel, biodegradable sunscreen, insect repellent, a camera, and cash for souvenirs and tips.

Both options are available. Private tours are fully customizable – adjust the itinerary, pace, and stops. Small-group tours follow a set route with other guests.
