The Coba Ruins Tour is the perfect excursion to experience and learn about the Mayan past and present, as well as to enjoy the nature of the Yucatan Peninsula in a very active way: biking, zip-lining, canoeing, and swimming.

The ancient Mayan city of Coba was once a metropolis of the north eastern Yucatan. Massive pyramids, squares, palaces and monuments have been buried in the jungle for over 1000 years, only recently discovered by archaeologists. Coba ruins are a wonderful environment to learn about the Maya as well as local fauna, where the lush vegetation is pre-eminent, with half-excavated buildings emerging from the vines and tree roots, lots of tropical birdlife and an extensive central area that we visit by bicycle!

On this tour you will paddle canoe on the calm waters of the lake and enjoy a thrilling zipline over the water.  We will also visit a family owned and run cenote, great for swimming and cooling down, and jumping or diving for the brave. And of course, you will enjoy a delicious home cooked meal all made from local ingredients to finish this experience in the best way possible!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Coba ruins are an ancient Mayan archaeological site located in the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. Coba was a major Mayan city that flourished between approximately 600 and 900 AD, with a population that might have reached up to 50,000 people at its peak. It’s one of the largest and most significant Mayan sites in the region.

One of the most famous structures at Coba is the Nohoch Mul Pyramid, which stands around 42 meters (138 feet) tall and is one of the tallest pyramids on the Yucatán Peninsula. Visitors can climb to the top of this pyramid, where they’re rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding jungle. Coba also contains several other pyramids, ceremonial structures, and ball courts, making it a fascinating site for understanding Mayan culture, architecture, and social organization.
